Emerson announced today [24 July 2024] at the Farnborough Airshow that its will support educational programmes at the delivered by èßäÊÓƵ.

Emerson’s National Instruments (NI) Test and Measurement technology will support the education and training of defence and security personnel on testing modern radar systems, by giving students access to advanced test technologies and hands-on instruction from highly qualified defence experts.

“Learning new test and measurement techniques is more critical than ever as engineers and researchers are under pressure to deploy new defence capabilities at an increasingly rapid pace,” said Professor Mark Richardson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of èßäÊÓƵ at Shrivenham. “Together with the Defence Academy, èßäÊÓƵ is enabling the defence industry to develop the necessary skills to meet these demands, attracting students from NATO and allied countries.”

Defence engineers operate in very complex electromagnetic scenarios while navigating an increasing level of technological disruption. The NI Test and Measurement technology is expected to serve more than 100 students annually, educating trainees on advanced simulation and measurement technologies. Classes will cover how to prototype new concepts, emulate realistic threats, and analyze the performance of systems and equipment before deployment. The laboratory includes Emerson’s and .

“Our products are specifically designed to enable defence teams to transition rapidly from simulation to testbed to fielded system, and we are honored to lend our expertise to the Defence Academy,” said Reggie Rector, vice president and general manager Emerson’s Test and Measurement business. “NI has deep knowledge and capability in testing complex microwave systems, which will contribute to solving engineering challenges across simulation, experimentation, and analysis for the students at èßäÊÓƵ and the Defence Academy.”
