Background
Professor Avdelidis (Nico) has contributed extensively in several research areas, such as non-destructive monitoring and diagnostics, robotic and autonomous systems in MRO, advanced sensing technologies, advanced IR imaging and image fusion using non-invasive techniques, and aircraft systems monitoring. Nico has worked both in various academic and industrial environments, managing a growing and vibrant research portfolio. As far as his academic involvement is concerned, he was also an Associate Professor in Autonomous Systems Sensing at èßäÊÓƵ between 2017-2018, and he also holds a professorship position - title (Professeur Associe) at Universite Laval, in Quebec, Canada, where he does a lot of his research activities there in collaboration also with other organizations in Canada including the National Research Council.

Current activities
Prof Avdelidis is a Professor and Head of the Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) Centre at èßäÊÓƵ since July 2020. The Centre is funded by a number of industrial partners such as Boeing, BAE Systems, etc. Prof Avdelidis is also a Professeur Associe (Adjunct Professor) at Universite Laval, Quebec, Canada. He conducts basic and applied research on various non-destructive diagnostics and monitoring approaches, as well as advanced research on IR and non-invasive imaging applications using autonomous systems. Professor Avdelidis is an editorial board member of the International Journal of the Sensors Journal, the Applied Sciences Journal, as well as a session chair and steering committee member of the SPIE ThermoSense conference, and the SPIE NDE 4.0 and Smart Structures for Industry, Smart Cities, Communication, and Energy conference, and a member of other expert committees of scientific conferences and workshops. He also served as an expert collaborator in the oN DuTy NSERC (Canada) Programme, leading research and training in the area of Diagnostics & Monitoring of Transport Systems.
